Jim Angell has acted as lead counsel in commercial financing transactions totaling over $1 billion. His practice emphasizes commercial finance and asset-based lending, representing institutional lenders in structuring, negotiating, and documenting sophisticated single-lender, multiple-lender, and borrower-financing transactions.
A native of Downs, Kansas, Jim joined Kennedy Berkley in 1999 after graduating from Washburn University School of Law. He earned his undergraduate degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on Accounting from the University of Kansas. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Kansas Bar Association, and Saline-Ottawa County Bar Association, and has been active in several charitable and community organizations.
Jim represents financial institutions in the areas of creditors’ rights and problem loan workouts, default resolution, debt restructuring, and commercial foreclosure. He also represents secured creditors and others through the bankruptcy process, and counsels bank clients on state and federal regulatory matters.
Jim also represents individuals and businesses in real estate matters; oil and gas matters; farm and ranch issues; bankruptcy issues; partnership, corporate and limited liability company issues; estate planning and general business litigation. Jim also spends a significant amount of time representing physicians, clinics, hospitals and other healthcare entities in mergers and acquisitions.
