Laurel grew up in Salina, Kansas, and attended Central High School. She graduated with distinction and university and departmental honors from the University of Kansas in 2015, earning a bachelor’s degree in English. She then pursued her law degree from the University of Kansas School of Law, receiving her JD in 2018. She joined Kennedy Berkley as an Associate Attorney in August of 2018.
While in law school, Laurel was a member of the Kansas Journal of Law and Public Policy, serving as staff editor and articles editor. She also clerked for the Kennedy Berkley; interned with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in Washington, D.C.; participated in the Legal Aid Clinic, moot court, and mock trial; and served as a Wheat Law Library research assistant. Laurel also serves on the State of Kansas Indigents Defense Services Board.
